Welcome

A body with variable velocity does not cover equals distance in equal times. It is because its velocity changes over the time. The body changes its velocity in equals amount in equal times but its direction remain constant, so the aceleration is constant

So, there are two possible situations:

- The velocity of the body increase, so the aceleration is positive.  a (+)

- The velocity of the body decrease, so the aceleration is negative. b (-)
